And so were some of you..
In the eye of the storm, You remain in control.
And the pain falls like a curtain
On the things I once called certain
And I have to say the words I fear the most
I just don’t know…..*
Wind is often used to describe a physical manifestation of God’s power in Scripture.
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
A. W. Tozer
What is your vision for the remaining years God will give you on this earth?
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. – Matthew 11:12
If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed. – Proverbs 29:18
Jesus is clear that the violence the kingdom suffers must be met with violence. Not physical violence but extreme, intense commitment to follow through, carry on, no matter what may come.
I need a vision that will enable me to do that. To sustain that momentum through the remaining years of the life God gives me on this earth.
Without out a vision I am destined to mediocrity, unable to be the man God has called me to be, or in the words of the writer of Proverbs “unable to grasp what God is doing, stumbling all over myself”.
I love the classic scene from The Blues Brothers when Jake Blues announces: “We’re on a mission from God.”
I have had those moments. The adventure was at hand, the passion was high.
With my sunglasses and a half a tank of gas I headed out to fulfill the mission. And came up short of my destination.
Why? Because without a vision the mission became more important than the purpose.
I need a vision that reveals not just the beginning but the end and the purpose for it all. Mark Batterson in his book “Play the Man” says this
If you aren’t on a mission from God, you aren’t really living—you’re dying. You aren’t just wasting your God-given potential, you’re wasting space. You’re dead weight.
You need a vision for a mission.
Ask God to give it to you. Pray, fast, study—whatever it takes, don’t stop until you have your vision.
Then write it down and never forget it or stop pursuing it with all the “violence” of your God-given determination.
I intend to do exactly that. Pray, fast, study whatever it takes to have that vision. There is too much at stake, and too little time to waste.
And some of you once were….
If you want to walk my path…..
