Anchor

I have always loved music.

All types of music.

Country music, reggae music, rock music, Celtic music, Salsa-Latino , jazz, traditional gospel (my favorite Christian song of all time is How Great Thou Art) contemporary Christian music of all types and styles. While serving with Convoy of Hope after Hurricane Katrina I had the opportunity to listen to a former gang member/drug dealer now a pastor in New Orleans notorious 9th ward perform rap and hip-hop sharing a message about the God who saves, delivers, and changes lives to a generation I could never reach. It brought me to tears..

But once  in a while a song comes along that touches you in a special way, a song that has the breath of the Holy Spirit on it. A song that speaks to your heart with a message that feels like it was meant for you.

Sometimes it comes in a happy joyful moment reminding us about the wonderful salvation we enjoy, the loving God and Savior we serve. Sometimes it comes in moments of need and difficulty when we are asking “God are you still there, is it really going to be OK?”

Hebrews 6:18-19So God has given us two unchanging things: His promise and His oath. These prove that it is impossible for God to lie. As a result, we who come to God for refuge might be encouraged to seize that hope that is set before us. That hope is real and true, an anchor to steady our restless souls”.

“Anchor” by Hillsong was inspired by this scripture. It is one of those special songs that came at a time when I needed an anchor to steady my restless troubled soul. When I needed hope, refuge and encouragement from the One whose word is unfailing, His promises unshaken in the face of trouble.

God speaks to us in many ways and He spoke to me through the words of this song. My prayer is that wherever you are on your journey that it would speak to you as well. So take a few minutes, shut out the noise, the busyness and troubles and enjoy!

His name is greater, His name is higher all my hope is in You….

ANCHOR
I have this hope
As an anchor for my soul
Through every storm
I will hold to You

With endless love
All my fear is swept away
In everything
I will trust in You

There is hope in the promise of the cross
You gave everything to save the world You love
And this hope is an anchor for my soul
Our God will stand
Unshakeable

Unchanging One
You who was and is to come
Your promise sure
You will not let go

Your Name is higher
Your Name is greater
All my hope is in You

Your word unfailing
Your promise unshaken
All my hope is in You

      1. I cannot agree with you more. I know exactly what you mean. This year has been extremely tough, but God has been my anchor in the storm and I have been holding on to His promises like never before. God bless you for sharing.

  2. Yes God talks to us in different ways. It can be through music, a scripture, bible study or choir practice and etc. I told you we have the same writing style, read my post called ¨Songs Are Confirmation¨ I really think you’ll like that one!
