Light

Planting a garden in the spring is one of my favorite activities.
And the winter is not officially over for me until it is warm enough to get started.
I started some of my garden plants from seeds this year, a fairly simple process that requires minimal resources, fertile soil, water and light.
I planted my seed indoors in mid-February and in a short time tiny green shoots began to appear, and soon after that leaves began to form.
But after the initial growth spurt the tiny plants began to lean to one side.
I checked the soil and found it was a little dry, and added more water. To my surprise in a few days they had fallen to one side. Dead.
After consulting Google (How did we ever function without it )”what causes plants to droop and die” I was able to find the culprit.
Lack of water, good soil or time was not the problem. All of these ingredients were present but my little plants could not survive without light. I replanted, adjusted the light source and they began to grow and thrive.
My experience with gardening this year was a good reminder that I cannot survive without light either. I need to make sure I keep the light shining on me

Psalm 1 provides instruction on how to do that, and promises I will grow when I do
God’s blessings follow you and await you at every turn:
when you don’t follow the advice of those who delight in wicked schemes,
When you avoid sin’s highway,
when judgment and sarcasm beckon you, but you refuse.
For you, the God’s Word is your happiness.
It is your focus—from dusk to dawn.
You are like a tree,
planted by flowing, cool streams of water that never run dry.
Your fruit ripens in its time;
your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun.
No matter what you do, you prosper.

If we do our part
Refuse ungodly counsel (darkness)
Avoid the path of sin
Allow our Light to shine
Delight in the things of God
Make Him the focus of our life

God’s blessings will follow and await us at every turn
We will be like mighty trees
We will bear fruit in season
We will not fade or wither
All that we do will prosper
