Things Unseen

faith 2

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.   2 Corinthians 4:18

We all have our list.. The things we pray for. The situations that only He can make right.

Like the end of our favorite movie or the last chapter of our favorite book, we want a happy ending, the dragon is slain, the good guys win and they all lived happily ever after. But for some of us we are not to the slain dragon, good guys winning, happily ever after part of the story. It is still a story in progress and we’re not sure how it will end.

Sometimes despite our doubts God gives us a glimpse of the story He is writing. He did that recently for me.

A friendship is restored

A first step is taken by a loved one to be free from addiction.

Awakening and  restoring things in my walk with Him that had been lost in the battle

And He brings me up close, and says. “I am here, I will finish the story” It wasn’t because I had great faith. Being honest these situations have gone on for a long time, and I wondered if they would ever change. But God knows we need encouragement.

Just like the man who asked Jesus

“Lord I believe, help me with my unbelief” And Jesus did not let him walk away empty handed. He answered his prayer.

When the disciples asked Jesus “increase our faith” He reminded them it is not about quantity, but quality. A mustard seed will do.

Out of small beginnings, great things come.

The glimpse I saw of God at work reminded me it’s not about the answer. Or what the answer is presently, yes, no or not yet.

It is about confidence in and relationship with the One who makes all things possible.

We don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For now and for the future.  And He will meet us there.

That is enough…
