Praying for your city…As we pray for our nation it is important that we pray for our cities. The places where we live, we worship, we raise our families. The following suggestions for prayer are from “The Battle Plan for Prayer” written by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, creators and producers of “War Room”. It is an excellent book for developing a strategy for daily prayer in all areas of our lives.
Pray that God would
Pour out His Spirit and bring revival to the church and spiritual awakening to the city.
Bless your city and make it a safe and prosperous place for families to freely live, grow, worship, and serve Him with their lives (Psalm 122:6-9, 3 John 2)
Raise up strong pastors and healthy churches to be a light and a spiritual force for good. (Matthew 5:16, Acts 16:4-5
Open the eyes of believers with hearts of love and compassion for the lost and move them to reach out to the community. (Matthew 9:27-28, John 4:35, Romans 5:5, 10:1)
Unite local pastors and churches in prayer for one another, for revival and restoration, serving the needs of the city, the clear unaltered preaching of the Word. (Colossians 4:3, 2 Timothy 1:8 Titus 3:14, 2 Timothy 4:1-3)
Give our leaders guidance and understanding, and help them top fear God rather than man. Deuteronomy 10:12, James 1:5
Replace poor, corrupt government leaders with strong, godly leaders who will honor God and serve the people wisely, justly, and unselfishly. (Psalm 101:7-8, Micah 6:8)
Shut down corrupt businesses and organizations that are destroying communities with sinful products or practices. (Psalm 55:9-11)
Bring in strong, healthy businesses that will benefit families and the city. (Proverbs 28:12)
Pray and rebuke satanic influences and control over the city, and overcome any strongholds of the enemy with the truth of the gospel and the blood of Jesus. (Ephesians 6:12-20 Rev. 12:11)
Vote to replace corrupt laws and standards with just and godly ones that bless all people. (Deuteronomy 6:19-20
Strengthen our marriages, parenting, and families in the city. (Psalm 112:1-9, Ephesians 5:22-6:4)
Strengthen and support law enforcement to protect people and eliminate crime. (Rom. 13:1-5)
