What is purity of heart worth to you?
“You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery. But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28
Matthew 5-7 is known as the Sermon on the Mount. In these chapters Jesus lays out a higher standard than the law given to Moses. A way of life that goes deeper than outward conformity, and changes us at the very core of our being, bringing purity of heart not just external obedience.
What is purity of heart worth to you? Is it worth humbling yourself and getting help? Is it worth taking action to get rid of the stumbling blocks in your life? Is it worth going beyond looking good and paying the price to develop truly righteous habits and thought patterns? Is it worth spending time in God’s word and prayer not only so you can overcome, but so you can get to know the heart of the Father?
Is it worth picking up your cross and following Jesus?
