Walls-Day 33

40 Days of Prayer for America

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit.
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”
Matthew 27:50-51

“For He himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,.. ” Ephesians 2:14

The tearing of the curtain from top to bottom in the Holy of Holys announced the removal of walls.
Walls that separated women from men, Jew from Gentile, all from God.
The curtain was destroyed ,the walls torn down, now all could come near to God.
The separation that began in the garden between God and His children was no more.

Lord I thank you today that the walls that separated us from You are gone.
I thank you that every person of every nation can come and You will not turn us away.
But I ask Your forgiveness for the walls we have built.
Walls that shut others out.
Walls of religion
Walls of exclusion
Walls of favoritism
I ask forgiveness for the grace we have withheld,
I ask forgiveness for our unforgiveness
when we have been forgiven so much.

I ask forgiveness for failing to follow Your command to go and make disciples without regard to who or what they may be.
Only You know the future for our nation. Whatever it may be, may it be said of us that in our time we tore down walls.
And instead of building walls we allowed you to build our lives as Living Stones, a testament to Your love and grace, a dwelling place where You could live and through our voice, our hands, our feet, reconcile a lost nation and world to You.
Amen
