Christmas Hope-Promises Kept

40 Days of Hope-Day 21

Herod is searching for the child to kill him you must leave immediately.

The road traveled to the birth of the Savior had not been easy.
The social disgrace of Mary being pregnant before she was married to Joseph.
The journey to Bethlehem, Mary heavy with child, no room to be found.
The meeting with Simeon in the temple where he spoke these words

Simeon: “Listen, this child will make many in Israel rise and fall. He will be a significant person whom many will oppose. In the end, He will lay bare the secret thoughts of many hearts. And a sword will pierce even your own soul, Mary.”
The Magi bowing in worship, bringing gifts.
And now in the middle of the night an angel appears and warns Joseph to “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you to return.”
Joseph takes the child and mother and leaves for Egypt.
Ridicule, hardship, mystery, fear….
This is the “rest of the story” usually not part of the Christmas story.
You could say their experiences were preparation for what was yet to come. And they were.
But the prophecies spoken in
Micah 5:2
Isaiah 7:14
Hosea 11:1
Jeremiah 31:15
and many others remind of us of an important truth.
God never forgets a promise.
He word is sure.
And even a when it is beyond our understanding, no matter how long it may take,
He always keeps His promises.
