had the honor of being one of several speakers at a men’s conference on Saturday.
It was a great time meeting new friends, reconnecting with old friends hearing what God has placed on the heart of those who spoke.
One comment in particular really spoke to me in regard to the recent presidential election and I would like to share it with you.
“We have been given a four-year reprieve. If the church does not take this opportunity to be a part of reestablishing a moral compass in this country, in four years a new president will be voted in and possibly that window of opportunity will close”.
There are times when we hear God’s heart through a human voice.
I believe this may have been one of those times.
Do I believe God still speaks to us?
Absolutely. Probably more than we think if we are listening.
Do I believe that this “reprieve” is due to Donald Trump being elected president of the United States? Yes and no.
Yes- because he was the man selected when the dust settled in the Republican nominee process to be the opposing candidate, and through the process of democracy elected president. And looking at the history recorded in the Bible of God using imperfect people He can use Donald Trump.
No-If we accept the moral decline that has been ongoing in the United States since the 1960’s, accelerated in the recent past,we should view this election although admittedly miraculous, as what my pastor friend expressed so well a “reprieve”, but not the answer to our problems.
This is bigger than any one person or election.
It is not the governments responsibility to do the job of the church. If we put our hope in any person or government to rescue us from this downhill slide we will be disappointed.
In the end only God is able to bring real and lasting change
It is our responsibility to carry out our part in God’s plan.
As a follower of Christ what will you do to be part of that plan over the next four years?
Next-What we can do
