Feel Like Dancing?

Now the man’s older son was still out in the fields working. He came home at the end of the day and heard music and dancing.

– Luke 15:25All of us are familiar with the guilt and condemnation that accompanies those times when we sin. But do you ever feel like dancing? I know that is an odd question to ask especially in the context of sin.

But if you read about the events that precede th older brothers arrival at home you see there is a reason for dancing even when we have blown it.

Grace.

The Prodigal Son having blown his inheritance on wild living, broke, hungry and alone, realizes he has made a big mistake. He arrives at his father’s house asking only for a job, employment as a servant.

His father’s response is unexpected.

Not only is he welcomed back into the family as if he never left, his father throws a party, a celebration that was not about failure but about grace.

Grace that loves, never gives up, forgives, restores, and welcomes us even when we are less than perfect.

Feel like dancing?
