There are so many wonderful truths and promises contained in the lyrics of this song written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townsend.
We are reminded that our hope for this life and the next, through the storms of this life is found only in Christ. He came as an innocent baby, bringing love and the offer of restoration to the Father, and although rejected by those He came to save, persevered until the end.
Beaten, bruised and abandoned He bore our sins and satisfied our sin debt and the wrath of God that we deserved on the cross.
It seemed all was lost but on the third day He rose in victory, utterly and completely defeating the power of death, hell, and the grave.
I love the next verses that proclaim that our guilt and our fear of death is no more. From our first cry to final breath He controls our destiny. No power of hell or scheme of man can take us away from Him or defeat all He has done for us. In life and on death we belong to Him.
So powerful, yet so often overlooked as we journey through this life. Until He comes or takes me home, Here in His power I stand.
I have provided the words below and a link to the version recorded by Natalie Grant.
Blessings to all of you!
