Jesus, knowing that He had come from God and was going away to God, stood up from dinner and removed His outer garments. He then wrapped Himself in a towel, poured water in a basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, drying them with His towel.
– John 13:3-5
Nowhere in scripture is Jesus love for His creation more in evident than here in the final hours of His life.
Knowing what is ahead He washes the feet of those who will desert and deny, the feet of the one who will betray Him.
Knowing the reality of the suffering and shame to come, His desire is to share one last meal with them.
And He prays for them… (John 17)
With the cross hours away His concern is for the sheep.
Servant and savior to the very end.
