Today I have a choice to make.
I can choose to live by the Spirit or live to gratify the desires my sinful nature demands. (Gal. 5:16-18)
The problem is I am not always consciously aware of my obligation to do so.
Many of us myself included do not realize the intensity of the war that is taking place on a daily basis. The war that the apostle Paul describes in Galatians where the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other and the focus of the conflict is me.
I am not neutral in this war I have to be committed to fight on the side of the Spirit against the desires of my sinful nature.
*This conflict this inner spiritual warfare is the nature of the Christian life; it is the experience of all those who live by the Spirit.
It is not the moral conflict everyone feels at some time, or the conflict of a a wayward prodigal that is no longer committed to Christ.
This is the conflict of of a thoroughly committed Christian who is choosing each day “to walk in the Spirit”.
More on this later…..
