In the Eye of the Storm

In the eye of the storm, You remain in control. images-2

I am in conflict with two important truths.
Trials and trouble are necessary
Trials and  trouble bring me closer to You.

It is difficult for me to embrace J. B. Phillips translation of the expected reaction to trials and trouble in James 1,
“When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your lives my brothers, don’t resent them as intruders, but welcome them as friends!”
Friends??

The Spirit is willing, the flesh is weak.

I have to settle it in my heart that a deep relationship with the Lord, comes from a willingness to go where He leads, even into the eye of the storm.

My devotional this morning  read as  follows,
There Bible never plays it safe, denies reality, or offers a cosmetized view of a fallen world.
The Bible never tricks you into thinking things are better than they are.
The Bible is very candid about the hardships, the storms and trouble, but it is also gloriously hopeful.**

In the eye of the storm-
You remain in control
In the middle of the war
You guard my soul
You are the anchor
when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me
in the eye of the storm…

He controls the storm
He guards my soul
He is my anchor
He surrounds me with love
In the eye of the storm.
Help me Lord to realize when my faith is tested in the storms of life that I am never alone. That I can trust you to do good by me.
Even when it overwhelming
Even when the news is bad
Even when I don’t understand
Even in the eye of the storm…..
