Will you still need me, will you still feed me?
When Paul McCartney released this song in 1967 I was 14.
The thought of being 64 then seemed as far away as heaven.
50 years later heaven seems a lot closer.
But even though it does (and I look forward to that day) I’m not planning to get out the easy chair. No, I think there is still much to do and accomplish.
Old age is man’s invention not God’s.
I may be growing older but I’m not getting older.*
I look forward to the remaining days God has for me however many they may be. How could I not?
How could I ever just sit back and relax “retire”and still do and be all God wants for me?
I think about Caleb.
Still going strong at 85 in numbers 14.
He did not let anything including age hold him back from possessing all that God had for him.
And I don’t plan to either.
I don’t know what the coming days will bring but I know God is in it and that’s enough.
I want to spend the remaining time to the very last day, going strong.
Will you still need me, will you still need me will you still feed me,
when I’m 64?
Yes God I think you will. From now until you take me home.
This is My command: be strong and courageous. Never be afraid or discouraged because I am your God, the Eternal One, and I will remain with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9
