Season of Hope: Mercy and Promise

And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.
– Luke 1:50

Because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
– Luke 1:78-79
We will gather over the next few days to celebrate the coming of the King.
We will spend time with loved ones, share food and presents, make memories we will remember long after the presents are opened, and the time has come and gone.
But we must not forget as we enjoy all these things the main reason He came.

Mercy was required for us all.
We could not escape the burden of sin, or the wrath we deserved.
And hope came wrapped in cloths, in a manger.
Hope was born to an ordinary girl for an extraordinary purpose.
Hope that proclaims mercy for every generation, every person who reveres, shows deep respect and love for what He has done.
And a promise that because of that great mercy, revealed in a baby in a manger, born in an ordinary way, to ordinary parents, light would shine in the darkness, in the shadow of death and reveal the way to peace with God.
Released from the burden of sin.
The wrath of God satisfied.
