I Will Hear You

At that time, you will call out for Me, and I will hear. You will pray, and I will listen.
      Jeremiah 29:1

“Sometimes prayer moves the hand of God, but it more often changes our hearts as we capture something of God’s heart and are brought into agreement with and trust in him.”

I love this it goes right along with “what is happening to us is not as important as what is happening in us.”

If ever there was a time frequent, well directed prayer was needed it is now.

I don’t know about you but for me the stress of everyday life, trials, and decisions are more intense, more uncertain. I find I need that communication with my Father more and more to make the right choices to get through whatever life throws my way, to remain calm at peace in the midst of confusion.

It is also good to know, I can rest in knowing, when I pray He hears me.

  1. i think it does get harder as we get older, and i wonder if that’s because we’re just weary from life?

when i was younger and read about the kings in the OT … and the ones who lived their whole lives honoring God just to screw it up at the end … and i just could not imagine why the heck they’d do that?! i mean, didn’t their faith just layer and layer and so increase and become so strong and firm that nothing at all could ever divert them from the path of God? it just did not make sense.

but as i’m getting older, i find that i’m also simply weary and worn down from life. and when hard things come, rather than feel fortified, i tend to react with, “Not again, Lord. I’m already so weary, and worn. Please, not again.”

Perhaps that’s why Paul uses the words ‘press on’ in philippians 3 “I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

i *feel* that … i *feel* the need to press on. to push through. that it’s not a given, that it’s not easy … but rather that it’s hard, laborious, an exertion of strength and energy that i may or may not have at any given moment.

    hummm . . .
