Did you really want to die?”
“No one commits suicide because they want to die.”
“Then why do they do it?”

Living Life Right Now

Sometimes doing nothing helps us find our greatest something.

Winnie the Pooh

My grandson and I went to see the movie Christopher Robin yesterday.

Spoiler alert you will need tissues for about the first 10 minutes.

Christopher Robin is all grown up now.

He has a wife and a child and a job that is demanding and takes a lot of his time.

After disappointing his wife and daughter with the news that he will not be able to go on their weekend holiday, Christopher explains that “it’s necessary to work all those hours for a better future life.”

Mrs. Robin replies

“Don’t wait to live a better life someday

This is your life

You are living it right now

It’s right in front of you.”

As I sat in a theater on Tuesday afternoon with my little guy, when I could have been doing so many other things her statement touched my heart deeply and reminded me of what’s really important.

Life consists of a series of moments many and few. Some of those moments only come around once

But we should take the time to enjoy all of them. Live the life that is right in front of us.

Those who love us will not remember us for our accomplishments at work or even by how much we were able to provide for them even though hopefully they will appreciate it.

No they will remember us for the time we spent with them.

I needed to be reminded of that.

Maybe today you do as well.

Life is to be lived today.

From Fox News – I went from cornerback for the LA Rams to a long prison sentence. Here’s what I’ve learned about reform

Judges are forced to abide by mandatory prison sentences under the RICO act. The result is many non-violent offenders are serving long sentences with little hope of early release. As a volunteer Chaplain I visit with men who are in a vicious cycle of drug use and incarceration. The resources and money that is necessary to maintain a prisoner and a jail state prison or federal prison could surely be used in a different way to rehabilitate and help them towards a life that’s crime-free The time for prison reform is now.
